The first of a progressive programme of winter white water trips will be on the gentle Exe.
If you are a white water novice you'll need to get on the first couple of trips because the later trips will be on more challenging water with the temperature dropping along with less daylight making it unsafe for complete beginners.

The Exe is a fairly safe (it's moving water with rocks so never completely safe)  A few gentle rapids follow an iffy weir. The next (salmon steps) weir is usually a safe and fun multiple bump. Tiverton town weir is a big slide or cheese (plastic) grater if low.  Probably be Bolham to Tiverton or Bickleigh but full detail to be confirmed.

As always we need loads of experienced paddlers/throwlines.

Meet at the club to leave by 08.00 (the early bird gets the best boat and if is your first trip you may find it takes a little longer to get ready) . It's about a 1:50 - 2:00 hour (80 mile) drive plus we need to run a shuttle, be prepared for a few swims and have a good safety margin to ensure we are off the river before it gets dark. We may be home between 16:00 - 19:00.

Please register if you intend to come, it has boat carrying details, plus emergency contact details that make it a little easier for the organisers.

What to bring -

Warm paddling kit.

A hot drink could be a must have - an unbreakable flask (attached) in the back of your boat.

Food - high energy food is best (flapjacks/Mars bars/banana etc. are good)

Dry warm clothes to get changed into post paddle.

Transport

We share the cost of the fuel (160+ miles so could be around £25-£35 per car). May be a parking fee to pay.
