The second of a progressive programme of winter white water trips will be on the Lower Dart.
If you are a white water novice you'll need to get on the first couple of trips because the later trips will be on more challenging water with the temperature dropping along with less daylight making it unsafe for complete beginners.

The Dart is a step up from the Exe. A flat section to warm up on before the mighty Anvil weir (that can easily be walked around. A few gentle rapids follow over a couple of miles. A big island heralds a slightly bigger rapid. The Abbey weir sometimes sees the Monks handing out bottles of Bucky wine to anyone who runs it backwards (Jen has been seen running 10 or 15 times).  Holne Weir lay-by (or RDCP) to Buckfast.

As always we need loads of experienced paddlers/throwlines.

Meet at the club to leave by 08.00 (the early bird gets the best boat and if is your first trip you may find it takes a little longer to get ready) . It's about a 1:50 - 2:00 hour (105 mile) drive plus we need to run a shuttle, be prepared for a few swims and have a good safety margin to ensure we are off the river before it gets dark. We may be home between 16:00 - 19:00.

Please register if you intend to come, it has boat carrying details, plus emergency contact details that make it a little easier for the organisers.

What to bring -

Warm paddling kit.

A hot drink could be a must have - an unbreakable flask (attached) in the back of your boat.

Food - high energy food is best (flapjacks/Mars bars/banana etc. are good)

Dry warm clothes to get changed into post paddle.

Transport

We share the cost of the fuel (210+ miles so could be around £35-£50 per car). May be a parking fee to pay.
