All Club Members,

New Paddle Safer Award

There is a new safety award from British Canoeing that can be delivered in an evening. The club will provide this on the next 4 weeks during the Wednesday club nights. There will be six places available each Wednesday. This new practical course gives you top tips and considerations to support you to paddle safer. You will learn how to choose appropriate equipment, develop an understanding of the environment, go on to develop your knowledge and understanding for how to plan your paddles and trips and then you will practice a range of rescue techniques, and learn how to support each other and explore possible solutions to common mishaps. Yes, you will get wet!!

Who is Paddle Safer for?

It is for anyone of any age who wants to develop their awareness and skills on the water. You don’t need any previous experience to take your Paddle Safer Award, just the desire for fun and learning! You can use any craft, including kayaks, canoes, stand up paddleboards, sit on tops and inflatables. This ideal for families and newcomers to the sport.

Each award only takes up to 3hrs and will start at 6pm to finish at 9pm. You can do this in any craft with a minimum of equipment.

Cost: Nothing, What do you need? A sense of humour and enthusiasm. If you have your own craft please bring it along otherwise we can use club kit.
