Finished The Courses - What's Next?

Carry On Paddling Sessions

These sessions will be run at the same time as your previous course – usually Tuesday and Thursday 6-9pm and Sunday 2-5pm (probably until the end of September). There is no need to book just come down to the club and we will assign a coach to the group and then decide what you want to get from the session. It may be that you want to work on specific skills, go on a trip up to Bathampton, shoot some weirs or try a different craft. The aim of these sessions is to build your confidence in the sport and as the title suggests - keep paddling! The only condition is that you are a member of the club.

Flat Water Trips

We also offer flatwater trips throughout the year on the River Avon, the canal and further afield. This is a good opportunity to continue to paddle with a group on more sheltered waters. Look out for trips on the What's On page.

Sea Paddling

If you like the look of exploring the British coastline then we run regular sea paddling trips throughout the year and these include Beginners Trips. Tides tends to control where the trips take place and generally we venture anywhere from the Solent, to the Dorset coast, south and north Devon, Somerset, and South Wales. There are occasional week-end trips that involve camping Fri and Sat nights so we can venture further away, e.g. Cornwall or Pembrokeshire. Organised trips tend to require less experience and skill on the basis that once at a reasonable level you can get your own adrenalin rush leaving the trips to be more sociable affairs. We are blessed with a fabulous coastline and Bath is equidistant to lots of it. Look out for trips on the Events page of the website.

There will be beginners trips aimed at those finishing the courses, so keep your eyes on the What's On page on the website and again you will need to be a member to register for all trips. For more information please contact Phil (trips@ bathcanoeclub.co.uk).

White Water Paddling

If you want the adrenaline rush of paddling down rapids and over features with names like the washing machine and spin drier then why not try Whitewater kayaking. We run trips from mid-September over the winter to Easter and these start with beginner day trips in Devon or Wales and then progress to higher grade rivers. We will be hosting a Symonds Yat trip in September as an initial introduction to moving water. Look out for trips on the What's On page.

K1 Racing

If you like the ideas of going very fast on the water then perhaps K1 kayaking is for you – think the formula one of paddling! We run regular river sessions from the clubhouse on a Saturday morning and you are more than welcome to join them. They meet at 9am and are usually on the water by 9.15am. If you would like to attend please contact Paul (welfare@bathcanoeclub.co.uk).
