The forecast appears to have worsened.  It is due to blow at 19/32mph (F5/7) SW.  The 2m waves at 8s will be battering Hope Cove.  I'll not cancel just yet but suspect that Hope Cove will not be an appropriate venue.  [11 May update]

High water is about midday.  The long term forecast suggests a light SW wind which may cause some swell.  This trip is not suited to beginners since there are very few places to land and the swell will make for an exciting paddle.  It's a beautiful area and well worth the early start.

Aim to be there early (09:00) to drop boats off and find parking with a target of paddling by 10:00.  Location is grid SX 675 396, TQ7 3HR (w3w= ///scramble.repeat.debating) , slipway by lifeboat house on south beach.

Covid-19 considerations apply throughout, including social distancing around the club and venue, no car sharing unless in same bubble, and clean all kit thoroughly on return to clubhouse.

Due to the expected level of interest following lockdown, attendance is for members only.

Contact  trips officer if you need further info.

You must satisfy yourself that this trip is suitable for you, that you are sufficiently experienced, able and willing to paddle at the advertised level. For detailed guidance, see trip categoristion. If in doubt, seek guidance from the advertised leader before registering.

You must register if you intend to come. Places are restricted in an effort to maintain an acceptable experience ratio amongst participants. If it's full, contact the trip leader to see whether any more places can be made available.

If you change your mind, that's okay! But please contact the trips officer as soon as you know so that someone else can register in your place.

You must bring suitable equipment or make arrangements for someone to bring it for you (eg. kayak). See what to bring.

You are advised to book a club boat, if you need one, please enter your boat of choice on the notice board in the BCC store..   A summary of the clubs Sea Kayaks is here
