The North Devon coast is wild and beautiful and this trip has Lynmouth as the unusual launch point. The aim will be to paddle west with the following ebb to Heddon's Mouth, a quick lunch and then return with the start of the flood (14:20). It will be neap tides so starting back a little before tide turn should not be a problem. We are time limited since sunset is at 16:25 but an 8 km paddle each way should be easily manageable for intermediate paddlers.
We need to be ready to launch at 10:45, i.e. kitted up at water's edge. I would suggest that an hour of faff is not unusual so it would be good to aim to meet at 09:30 but if you're slick then later will be fine. There is a stretch of rocky beach which we'll need to carry boats over so please allow extra time for this.
This trip is targetted at Intermediate paddlers who are competent and confident in moderate waters (1m swell and choppy conditions) as well as performing rescues in these conditions. The temperature will have reduced considerably and so you should have a dry suit.
You must satisfy yourself that this trip is suitable for you, that you are sufficiently experienced, able and willing to paddle at the advertised level. For detailed guidance, see trip categorisation. If in doubt, seek guidance from the advertised leader before registering.
You must register if you intend to come. Places are restricted in an effort to maintain an acceptable leader/participant ratio. When the list is full you can still register on the waiting list and the leader will then notify you if you may join the trip. That notification may be a few days after registration.
You must bring suitable equipment or make arrangements for someone to bring it for you (eg. kayak). See what to bring.
